2016 Honda Civic - appraised in Allenheads

One of the more memorable trips: a 2016 Honda Civic with a worn-out clutch and around 200,000 miles, tucked away up at Allenheads. Two roads shut on the way, a good mile reversing back down a single-track lane, and a welcoming committee of goats trying to climb into the car. We made an offer, but couldn't agree a price, so the seller decided to advertise it herself. No deal, but well worth the trip.

Outcome: No Deal
We made the trip out to Allenheads and had a proper look, but we could not agree a price, so the seller decided to try it on Facebook for a little more. No deal this time, and no hard feelings, every job we go out on is worth the experience (and the goats were a bonus).
The short version
  • A 2016 Honda Civic, around 200,000 miles, with a worn-out clutch
  • Out at Allenheads, high up in the hills, and quite the mission to get to
  • We looked it over and made an offer, but could not agree a price
  • No deal, the seller chose to advertise it herself, and that is absolutely fine

An adventure just to get there

This one was an adventure before we even saw the car. It was out at Allenheads, high up in the hills, and getting there was half the story: two of the roads were shut, so we ended up reversing a good mile back down a single-track lane just to find a way in. Then, once we arrived, there was a welcoming committee of goats, headbutting and trying to hop into the car, which made having a proper look at it all the more interesting.

The car

The car itself was a 2016 Honda Civic that had covered around 200,000 miles and had a clutch that was well and truly worn out. We had a good look over it and made the owner a fair offer for where it was at.

Why we did not do a deal

On this occasion we could not quite meet in the middle on price. The seller decided she would rather advertise it on Facebook for a little more, and that is completely fair enough, it is her car and her call. Not every trip ends in a deal, and that is just part of it. Honestly, we were glad we made the trip, and I will admit I had a proper laugh with the goats.

What happens if we cannot agree a price?

Nothing at all. There is no fee, no pressure and no obligation. You keep the car and are free to sell it however you like, exactly as this seller did. Our offers are there to take or leave.

Do you still come out to remote places like Allenheads?

We do, gladly. Allenheads, Nenthead and the top of the valley, the harder a car is to shift, the more use a local buyer with a recovery truck tends to be. You can get a firm offer here or call 01434 400 444.
