2007 Nissan X-Trail Columbia DCi - collected in Allendale

Called out to a Nissan X-Trail Columbia DCi that had been sitting so long it was more green than silver. No battery in the car at all, tyres flat. We brought our own battery, got it started on the drive, and had the paperwork done at the kitchen table before the kettle had boiled twice. Rural Allendale address, not the sort of job a branch-based buyer turns up for.

Key info within this case study

  • 2007 Nissan X-Trail Columbia DCi, diesel, 6-speed manual.
  • Sat long enough that moss had taken over: more green than silver.
  • No battery in the car, both front tyres flat.
  • Rural Allendale address that branch-based national buyers will not service.
  • We brought our own battery, fitted it on the drive, the engine fired first try.
  • V5C signed at the kitchen table, DVLA notified on the phone, payment cleared before we left.

The job and the address

Allendale is maybe a 25-minute drive out of Hexham. Properly rural, the kind of address where a "drive to our branch" request from a national buyer is a non-starter. The X-Trail had been sat long enough that the moss had taken over. More green than silver by the time we got there. No battery in the car at all, and both front tyres were flat.

Getting it started

We brought our own battery. Fitted it on the drive, turned the key, and it started. Diesel, manual 6-speed, a proper X-Trail Columbia DCi from the generation a lot of rural Northumberland still runs because they are indestructible, they will tow a trailer, and they cope with snow that actually is snow. Even after months of sitting in the Allendale weather, the engine fired and ran.

Paperwork on the day

Drove it onto the transporter, went back inside, signed the V5C new keeper section at the kitchen table, notified the DVLA there and then on the phone, and left a signed paper receipt. Payment cleared before we had left the drive.

If your car has been sitting

If your car has been sitting, no battery, flat tyres, covered in moss, SORN, "I am not sure if it will even start", it makes zero difference to us. We buy problem cars routinely and we bring whatever we need to get them moving. No surcharges, no "specialist collection" fees, no "we will come back when it is running" runaround.
