2006 Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet - collected in Stocksfield
This cream Beetle Cabriolet was bought as a first car for a daughter learning to drive. Over time it started costing a fortune to keep going, tyres, brakes, exhaust, and when the final bill was a head gasket at over £1,200, the sums stopped adding up. Mum sold it to us and put the money towards a newer, reliable car for the daughter's commute to work.

A first car that started costing too much
This one came to us through a deal in Stocksfield. The owner had bought the Beetle as a first car for her daughter to learn to drive in, which is exactly the sort of car a Cabriolet like this should be, characterful, easy to get on with, and good fun.
The trouble was it had started to cost a fortune to keep going. First tyres, then brakes, then the exhaust, and finally a head gasket that was quoted at over £1,200 to put right. On a car of this age and value, that is the point where pouring more money in stops making sense, however much you like it.
Why selling made more sense than fixing
So rather than keep chasing repairs, she sold it to us and put the money towards a newer car, one the daughter could rely on to get to work and back without another garage bill around the corner. That is often the sensible move: take the fair money for the old one and get into something dependable.
Credit where it is due, this Beetle had a couple of things going for it. The convertible roof actually worked, which is rarer than you would think on these at this age, most we see have given up, and it was genuinely a pleasure to drive. A likeable little car that had simply reached the end of being worth the repairs.

Do you buy cars that need expensive repairs?
Yes. A car facing a big bill, a head gasket, a clutch, or an MOT full of advisories, is exactly the sort of thing we buy. You do not have to spend money putting it right first. We take it as it is, work the figure out honestly, and handle everything from there.
Do you collect from Stocksfield and the villages?
We do. Stocksfield, Riding Mill, Prudhoe and the rest of the Tyne Valley are a short run from our Hexham base, and collection is free. You can get a firm offer here or call 01434 400 444.
