Sell a High-Mileage Car in Hexham

We buy it as it stands, and collect it

Automated quote engines mark a car down hard the moment the mileage climbs, if they will quote at all. We price the actual car: service history, the MOT record and how it drives count for more than the number on the dash.

Sell a High-Mileage Car in Hexham and the Tyne Valley

Out here the miles add up faster than the national average, because living in the Tyne Valley means driving. The A69 commute to Newcastle or Carlisle, the school runs between villages, the jobs that only happen with a car: a tidy ten-year-old hatchback around Hexham can easily be carrying 150,000 miles. Type that into an automated quote site and watch the figure collapse. We take the opposite view. We buy high-mileage cars every week, and we price the car in front of us, not a band on a spreadsheet.

High-mileage cars we buy

  • Cars at 100,000, 150,000 and 200,000 miles and beyond
  • Motorway-mile commuters, ex-fleet diesels and working cars
  • Priced on condition, history and MOT record, not the odometer alone
  • Recent servicing or a thick folder of history genuinely lifts the offer
  • Runner or not, MOT or not, we collect either way

Why the online figure collapses at six figures

Most automated valuation systems band cars by age and mileage. Once the odometer crosses certain thresholds the car drops into the next band down, regardless of whether it has been cherished or thrashed, and some quote engines simply will not deal with a car past a certain reading. None of that says anything about your actual car. It is just how a computer prices risk it cannot see.

What actually matters on a high-mileage car

Miles tell you how far a car has travelled, not how well it has been treated. What we look at is the story around the number: whether it has been serviced regularly and recently, whether the big jobs like clutches and cambelts have been done, what the MOT history shows year on year, and how it starts, runs and drives on the day. A 150,000-mile car with a straight MOT record and a folder of receipts is often a far better car than a neglected one showing half the miles, and we price it accordingly.

The high-mileage cars we have actually bought

This is not a theoretical page. The case studies below are real recent purchases: a VW Golf Estate from Allendale at 190,000 miles, a Mini Cooper D from Hexham at 196,000, a Range Rover Evoque at 165,000 that the online quotes had written down to buttons, a Renault Megane at 148,000. High miles were not a barrier to a single one of those deals.

When high miles really do mean the end

We will always be straight when the number is the least of it. If a high-mileage car also needs a clutch, has corrosion taking hold and is running out of MOT, there does come a point where it is worth more for parts than as a car, and if that is our honest read we will tell you rather than dress it up. Even then it is usually worth more than a scrap quote, and either way it leaves on our recovery truck with the paperwork done.

Motorway miles from Corbridge, farm miles from Bellingham

Commuter cars off the A69, working diesels from up the North Tyne, we buy them on what they are, and collect them from your door.

A number on the dash has never scared us. Service history, an honest MOT record and a car that drives right count for far more.

Common questions

Who buys high-mileage cars near Hexham?

We do. We are a local, family-run buyer in Hexham and high-mileage cars are one of the most common things we buy, including cars at 150,000 and 200,000 miles. We price the actual car, with free collection across the Tyne Valley.

Is 150,000 miles too many to sell a car?

No. We buy cars at 150,000 miles and well beyond, and have bought cars showing over 190,000. What matters is the condition, the service history and the MOT record, not the number on its own.

Does a high-mileage car just go for scrap?

Usually not. A high-mileage car that starts, drives and has MOT is a used car, not scrap, and is normally worth more than a scrap quote. Where a car genuinely is at the end, we will say so honestly and still usually beat the scrap figure.

Do you buy high-mileage diesels?

Yes, and they are often the strongest high-mileage cars we see, because motorway miles are the easy kind. An ex-commuter or ex-fleet diesel with a solid history is exactly the sort of car we buy every week.

Does service history matter on a high-mileage car?

Genuinely, yes. Regular servicing, evidence of the big jobs like the cambelt or clutch, and a clean MOT trajectory all lift the offer on a high-mileage car, so dig out whatever paperwork you have.
