Sell a Project Car or Barn Find in Hexham and the Tyne Valley

Not every project gets finished. A barn find that turned out to be more work than expected, a restoration that has stalled, or a car bought with good intentions that has sat under a sheet for years: we buy project cars across Hexham and the Tyne Valley. SORN, no MOT, no V5C to hand, not running, or in pieces in a garage, none of it stops us. We bring a trailer, sort the paperwork, and take it off your hands cleanly.

Projects we take on

  • Barn finds and long-stored cars that have not moved in years
  • Stalled or half-finished restorations, in one piece or in boxes
  • Classic and older cars that need more work than time allows
  • SORN cars with no MOT and no current tax or insurance
  • Projects where some paperwork or parts have gone missing

SORN, no MOT, not running, all fine

A project car is almost never road-legal, and it does not need to be. If the car is on a SORN, with no MOT and no insurance, you cannot drive it on the road, but we collect on a trailer or recovery truck so it never has to turn a wheel on the public road to reach us. Once we have bought it, the responsibility for the car is entirely ours. You do not need to tax it, insure it or get it running first.

The paperwork on a project or barn find

Ideally the car still has its V5C, but missing logbooks are common on long-stored projects and barn finds, and we deal with them routinely. When we buy it you hand over the V5C if you have it, take the new keeper slip, and tell the DVLA you have sold the car. You do not keep a SORN on a car you have sold, you simply notify the sale. If the V5C is long gone we will talk you through it.

We know what a project is actually worth

A stalled project is worth more than its parts to the right buyer, and we have the trade network to find that buyer. We have bought and moved on classics and restoration cars before, from an MG TF sold on through a specialist to a Jaguar XK8 that had sat under a tree for the best part of a year and still drove home. We value the car on what it is, project and all, and explain the figure plainly.

Free trailer collection across Hexham and the Tyne Valley

We collect project cars and barn finds from Hexham, Corbridge, Slaley, Bardon Mill, Allendale, Haltwhistle and the surrounding villages, and further across Northumberland when it suits. Free collection on the trailer, instant bank transfer, and the paperwork handled.

SORN, no MOT, no V5C, in boxes in a garage: none of it stops us. We bring the trailer and sort the paperwork.

Common questions

Do you buy project cars and barn finds?

Yes. Barn finds, stalled restorations and half-finished projects are all cars we buy across Hexham and the Tyne Valley. In one piece or in boxes, running or not, we collect on a trailer and handle the paperwork.

Can I sell a project car that is on a SORN with no MOT?

Yes. A SORN car with no MOT and no insurance is fine. You cannot drive it on the road, which is why we bring a trailer. Once we have bought it the car is our responsibility, and you tell the DVLA you have sold it rather than keeping the SORN.

Do you buy a project car with no V5C logbook?

Yes. Missing logbooks are common on long-stored projects and barn finds, and we handle them routinely with photo ID and proof of address. Having the V5C is easier, but not having it does not stop the sale.

Where can I sell my project car or classic near me?

We are based in Hexham and buy project cars, barn finds and classics across the Tyne Valley and Northumberland, including Corbridge, Slaley, Bardon Mill, Allendale and Haltwhistle, with free trailer collection.

Who buys a project car or barn find near me in Hexham and the Tyne Valley?

We do. We Buy Cars Hexham is a local buyer with our own recovery truck, not a national call centre. We buy a project car or barn find directly: we come to your door across Hexham, the Tyne Valley and the wider North East, collect on our own transport if it will not drive, pay by bank transfer on collection with no admin fees, and handle the DVLA paperwork for you.
