The Hyundai market in 2026: warranty as a value lever, and the move upmarket

Hyundai has shifted from a value badge to genuinely premium-feeling cars, and the values reflect that now. The single most important lever, after age and mileage, is remaining manufacturer warranty: Hyundai runs a five-year unlimited-mileage warranty that transfers to the next owner, so a 2022 Tucson with three years left fetches meaningfully more than an older one with none. Trim matters too, with SE Connect, Premium, Ultimate, N Line and N Line S all pricing differently, and the hybrid and plug-in variants holding up best. The newer cars are genuinely trouble-free; the things we check are the CRDi diesel DPF on short trips and, on the electrified cars, battery and charging history. We price the actual car, including any remaining warranty.

Hyundai Tucson

The Tucson is the SUV we see most, and demand for the Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid is very high right now. The 2015-2020 car and the sharper 2020-onwards model price differently, and trim plus remaining warranty do most of the work. The 1.6 CRDi diesel has the usual short-trip DPF question and the petrol and hybrid units are strong. A well-specced Tucson with warranty left gets a strong figure and we buy them readily.

Hyundai Kona

The Kona (2017-2023, 2023 onwards) comes as petrol, hybrid and full electric, and the Kona Electric in particular sells fast. On the EV we factor battery health, charging history and any outstanding recall work; on the petrol and hybrid the cars are dependable and spec-led. Remaining warranty again carries real money. We price the drivetrain and the actual condition rather than a blanket model figure.

Hyundai i10 and i20

The i10 city car is common across NE46, often from older drivers, and it is a steady, easy retail car. The i20 supermini follows the same pattern. These are dependable small petrols where trim, history and remaining warranty set the figure, and a tidy one with a clean MOT record finds a buyer quickly. We value the actual car, not the badge.

Hyundai i30 and Santa Fe

The i30 hatchback is a solid retail car and the i30 N hot hatch sells to enthusiasts at premium money. The older i30 1.6 CRDi had EGR issues we know about and price in. The Santa Fe is the big-family seven-seat SUV, solid retail in good spec and often four-wheel drive to suit the roads round here. We read the trim and engine and price each properly.

Older Hyundais and the workhorses

Not every Hyundai is a modern crossover. The older iX35 (2010-2015) is a dependable SUV where rapid brake pad and disc wear is the usual item we factor, and the genuine workhorses still earn their keep round here.
