Selling your MG in Hexham and the Tyne Valley
MG is the value brand on a roll. New MGs are well-built, well-equipped, and the 7-year warranty is a genuine selling point. MG ZS petrol is the most common MG we see, then MG3 city car, increasingly MG4 and MG5 electric. We pay attention to remaining warranty.
What we buy on the MG range
- Every model and trim - MG3, MG4, MG5, ZS, HS
- Petrol, diesel, hybrid, electric - all powertrains
- Manual and automatic, low mileage or 200k+
- Failed MOT, warning lights, mechanical faults, non-runners
- Outstanding finance, missing V5, SORN cars - we handle the paperwork
How we value a MG
Remaining 7-year warranty is the biggest single value lever on an MG, a 2022 ZS with 5 years of warranty left fetches significantly more than a 2019 with no warranty. MG ZS EV vs ZS petrol, electric is much stronger demand. MG4 trim levels (SE, Trophy, Trophy Long Range) matter.
Common MG condition issues we see
MG reliability has improved substantially since the SAIC takeover. Some rear-suspension noise on older MG3 cars is common. MG ZS EV battery is reliable but charging-port issues have been reported and we check.
MG demand and current market
MG4 Trophy Long Range demand is intense, strong premium pricing. MG ZS EV in good demand. ZS petrol steady. MG3 city car retail steady particularly the new model. MG5 estate-EV growing.
Seven-year warranty, strong electric models - we offer premium prices for recent MGs.

The MG market in 2026: the new SAIC MG, the seven-year warranty and the EVs
MG is the value brand on a roll. The new SAIC-built cars are well-made and well-equipped, and the seven-year warranty is a genuine value lever because it transfers to the next owner: a 2022 ZS with several years of cover left fetches significantly more than an older one with none. After warranty, the big split is electric versus petrol, with the EVs in much stronger demand. Reliability has improved substantially since the SAIC takeover, so the things we check are battery health on the electric cars and a little rear-suspension noise on the older MG3. We price the actual car, including whatever warranty is left to run.
MG ZS and MG3
The ZS is the most common MG we see, in both petrol and the much-stronger-demand ZS EV form, and the MG3 city car retails steadily, particularly the new hybrid generation. Trim and remaining warranty do most of the pricing work, and on the ZS EV we factor battery health and check the charging port, which has had occasional reported issues. We price the actual drivetrain and spec rather than the badge.
MG4 and MG5 (the electric MGs)
The MG4 is the standout, and demand for the Trophy Long Range in particular is intense with strong premium pricing. The MG5 is the rare estate-bodied EV and demand is growing. On both we factor battery health and charging history, and the trim levels (SE, Trophy, Trophy Long Range) genuinely matter. A clean, healthy electric MG with warranty left is exactly the car the trade wants and we buy them readily.
MG HS
The HS is the larger family SUV, available as petrol and as a plug-in hybrid, and it is a well-equipped, value-led car with steady demand. Spec and remaining warranty carry the figure, and on the PHEV we factor battery and charging history. We price the actual build and condition.
Classic MG
The MG badge has a long enthusiast history and those cars are a different market entirely. See our Allendale MG TF case study, a classic roadster handled on a consignment deal, for how we approach an enthusiast MG where a specialist or consignment route can net the seller more than a straight purchase. The MGB, MGF and TF roadsters each have a dedicated audience and we value them carefully.
How we work with MG sellers in Hexham
Send the registration, the mileage and a couple of photos, plus the battery-health display on an EV. We price remaining warranty properly, factor the known points honestly (EV battery and charging port, older MG3 suspension noise), and tell you what your MG is genuinely worth at trade right now. A failed MOT or an off-the-road car is no barrier; we collect on the transporter.
